Ian Christopher has been playing professionally for over forty
years. From California, to his stints on the West Coast of
British Columbia, he is highly regarded amongst fans and peers
alike.
Ian began his career in California during the explosively
creative 1960’s. He played Hollywood’s
Sunset Strip alongside such acts as The Doors, Mothers of
Invention, Sonny and Sher and Crosby, Stills and Nash. He was
also an original member of Family of Man, a band which would go
on to contribute “Don’t Bogart That Joint" in the 1969 smash
film Easy Rider. He played the first "Love-In" in L.A. with
Steve Miller and the first peace march in San Francisco with
Family of Man; he became a veritable staple in California’s
1960’s music scene.
As
the decade drew to a close, Ian sensed the end of an era, and
moved north to Victoria,
British Columbia, where he married and started a family. In
Victoria and the Gulf Islands, Ian played with many
favorites, such as Bill Johnson and Amos Garrett.
With his children grown, Ian decided to settle in the Comox
Valley and again he found himself flourishing musically. Having
played virtually every room in the valley, Ian felt it was time
to give something back to the community which had so readily
embraced him. He began to volunteer at the local hospital and
long term care facilities, where after about five years, he has
honed his emotional and healing style of playing.
Receiving many accolades, Ian Christopher has solidified himself
as a West Coast legend. His concerts routinely sell out, and his
newest album, “Take One: Live At Studio Live,” is not only a
must have for fans, but for musicians as well. His reputation
for consummate professionalism precedes him; as one Walt Disney
executive famously remarked, “You won’t find a better act
anywhere, not even on Broadway.” Catch him live, and it’s hard
to disagree.
Ian has self published
his first limited edition of 100 CD's by hand. These CD's are rare, and
when Ian decides he's had enough of stuffing inserts, that will be
it for availability. Enjoy the music.
